Miramax remaking 'Man on the Train'

Miramax is planning a remake of Patrice LeConte's French drama Man on the Train.

The 2002 original revolved around a criminal planning a small town bank robbery and the friendship he establishes with an elderly professor.

Billy Bob Thornton has show interest in staring in the film, while The Family Stone helmer Thomas Bezucha is in talks to direct. Production will commence when the cast is set.

Daniel Taplitz is writing the screenplay, with Bob Cooper acting as producer.

Man on the Train picked up the 'Best Film' and 'Best Actor' (Jean Rochefort) prizes at the 2002 Venice Film Festival.
