James Bond stuntman Aris Comninos is in a critical condition after being involved in a car crash on the set of Quantum of Solace, according to The Sun.

Comninos was airlifted to hospital after his Alfa Romeo collided with another car and was left on the edge of a cliff.

An on-set insider said: "It looks bad - but it could actually have been much, much worse. One Alfa was literally balancing on the edge of the cliff, wobbling as the stuntmen sat inside. A couple more inches and it would have fallen into the lake."

Last weekend, Fraser Dunn crashed an Aston Martin into a lake while delivering the car to the set of the 007 sequel. Hours later another stuntman was injured while filming a car chase, prompting crew to speculated the film is "jinxed".

"Three accidents in a week - even for an action spectacular like James Bond - is too much," a source commented.

Quantum of Solace, Daniel Craig's second James Bond film, is scheduled for release on October 31.
