Loach, Cantona team for football film

Acclaimed British director Ken Loach and footballing icon Eric Cantona will unite to make a film about obsessed football fans, The Times reports.

Cantona, who has pursued a career in acting since retiring from sport more than a decade ago, reportedly pitched the idea to Loach and the film will begin shooting next month in Manchester.

It is thought that the 41-year-old Frenchman will not appear in the film but instead provide the voiceover.

Loach has previously directed Kes, Sweet Sixteen and The Wind That Shakes The Barley.
