Gervais: 'I nearly blinded Rob Lowe'

Ricky Gervais has admitted that he accidentally hit co-star Rob Lowe in the eye with a toy gun on the set of their new movie.

The comedian shot Lowe with a foam dart during a play-fight while filming feature directorial debut This Side of The Truth.

He wrote on his blog: "I showed Rob the joy of [toy] Nerf guns. Warner [studio] sent us some incredible weaponry.

"One fires six darts at once and one has a rocket launcher. It soon got out of hand and in one particular stand-off I shot West Wing star and Hollywood hunk Lowe in the eye.

"He was fine, but it would have been embarrassing to have had to tell Warner that the film is delayed because the director blinded one of the stars while 'having a laugh'."

Gervais added: "It did not affect my performance. At least my eye wasn't blood-shot like that loser Lowe."
