Studio Paramount began talks with Reeves, producer J.J. Abrams and screenwriter Drew Goddard earlier in the year to make a sequel to the hit monster movie.
However, Reeves told MTV that he would direct The Invisible Woman before any Cloverfield sequel.
He described The Invisible Woman as a "kind of a Hitchcockian thriller, in the vein of Marnie, about this woman that gets so desperate to save her family that she goes to crazy lengths and enters a life of crime".
