Gandolfini joins satire 'The Loop'
Former Sopranos star James Gandolfini has joined Armando Iannucci's political satire The Loop.

Iannucci penned the BBC Films production alongside fellow The Thick Of It writers Jesse Armstrong, Simon Blackwell, Tony Roche and Ian Martin.

Gandolfini will play US General Miller in the film, which has just begun principal photography.

Co-producer Adam Tandy said the movie will share the BBC Two sitcom's Whitehall setting, but refused to confirm whether it will feature any of the same characters.

The cast also includes Steve Coogan, Tom Hollander, Chris Addison, Peter Capaldi and Gina McKee.
