Gyllenhaal replaces Collette in comedy

Rex Features

Maggie Gyllenhaal has replaced Toni Collette in director Sam Mendes's upcoming relationship comedy.

Collette (Little Miss Sunshine) dropped out due to scheduling delays on the as-yet-untitled film, which is currently shooting in Conneticut, reports Variety.

The Focus Features movie revolves around a couple (John Krasinski, Maya Rudolph) who travel around the US looking for a place to settle down and raise a family.

Gyllenhaal will play a bohemian college professor who is an old friend of Krasinski's character. Curb Your Enthusiasm star Cheryl Hines is also among the cast.

Author Dave Eggers and wife Vendela Vida penned the screenplay.
