The Oscar-winning actress was delighted when she was cast as Russian spy Irina Spalko in the upcoming adventure film because she was a big fan of the franchise as a child.
"I've always wanted to do something with lots of action in it," Blanchett said. "So when Steven Spielberg says, 'Be a part of Indiana Jones', I could hardly say no. I grew up with these films; they're part of the cinematic landscape."
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is released in cinemas on May 22.
