Adam Brody has revealed that he would love to play Spider-Man if Tobey Maguire ever steps down from the role.

The former OC actor was in line to play The Flash in the Justice League of America movie, but the project has since been shelved.

However, he said he still likes the idea of playing a comic-book superhero, telling Empire: "How do I say this in a way that won't come back to haunt me?

"As a kid, the dream was always to be Spider-Man. I always associated the most with Peter Parker."

Ex-Dawson's Creek star Joshua Jackson has also expressed an interest in the role.

Maguire has yet to sign up for the planned fourth instalment in the franchise.
