Speaking from the set of the film Legion, Gibson said that he will play the role made famous by Mr. T if he can work it into his schedule, which includes the Transformers sequel and action drama Desert Eagle.
"I've been practising my double dutch," Gibson joked.
The actor added that he would be willing to grow a mohawk for the part but would dispense with the character's neck jewellery to bring the character into the 21st Century.
Gibson has previously worked with A-Team director John Singleton on Baby Boy, 2 Fast 2 Furious and Four Brothers.
Recent reports have indicated that Bruce Willis is in talks to star as Col. John "Hannibal" Smith in The A-Team.
