The film, written by Etan Cohen, casts Corddry as a man trained by the US government during the Cold War to be the "world's biggest jerk".
Corddry has long wanted to play the lead in Project A, stating: "Ben and Stuart gave it to me to read years ago, and it's always been the first thing I ask my agents and managers about. They've always said, 'Go open a movie first!'"
The 37-year-old admitted that he was pleased his career had progressed to the point where he was getting offered better roles.
"I'm slowly working my way up the ladder, starting from high school drama class. I am hoping this will break my cherry, as it were."
Corddry made his name in the US as a correspondent for The Daily Show. His film credits include What Happens in Vegas and Semi-Pro. He was recently cast as former White House press secretary Ari Fleischer in W.
