'Totally Spies!' heading to film

French production firms Marathon Media and Studio 37 will turn animated kids' TV series Totally Spies! into a feature film.
The series focuses on three Beverly Hills teenagers who become accidental secret agents. The film version, which will blend traditional and 3-D animation, explains how the trio first become spies.
"It's Clueless meets James Bond," said Marathon Media CEO David Michel. "We didn't want to just make a long episode of the series. Our job is to make a good film for fans and also show parents they won't be bored."
The $12 million budgeted film will be released in summer 2009.
Totally Spies! is ranked among the top five highest-rated children's shows in the world. It has aired in more than 40 countries.
