Harrison Ford has insisted that he is unfazed by critics' responses to the new Indiana Jones movie.

Speaking at yesterday's world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, he said: "I'm not afraid at all. I expect to have the whip turned on me.

"It is not unusual for something that is popular to be disdained by some people and I fully expect it."

The 65-year-old and co-stars Cate Blanchett, Shia LaBeouf and Ray Winstone earned a standing ovation at the event, along with producer George Lucas.

The movie was panned on the internet ahead of the premiere, but has received a largely positive response from critics.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull opens in cinemas on Thursday.
