Producers David Permut and Steve Binder are developing The Colonel, which chronicles the life of the one-time carnival hustler who helped Presley achieve global stardom.
The film is based on Alanna Nash's 2003 book The Colonel: The Extraordinary Story Of Colonel Tom Parker And Elvis Presley, reports Variety.
Nash's previous book Golden Girl: The Story Of Jessica Savitch was the inspiration for 1996 drama Up Close And Personal, which starred Robert Redford and Michelle Pfeiffer.
