Based on Hasbro's board game, the film will be a supernatural adventure with the Ouija board playing a crucial part in the story.
Though Ouija boards have been around for centuries, Hasbro began selling them as novelty items in 1966. In the game, players place their hands on an indicator which moves across the board to spell out messages from spirits.
David Berenbaum (Elf) will pen the film's screenplay.
Hasbro recently announced a six-year deal with Hasbro to turn their board games into feature films.
