Lost writer and co-producer Brian K. Vaughan has sold his supernatural comedy script Roundtable to DreamWorks.
The story, a reinvention of the King Arthur legend, follows Merlin as he recruits modern-day knights to fight off an ancient evil. Along the way, he discovers that contemporary knights are fading athletes, frightened scientists and Oscar-winning actors.
DreamWorks paid $650,000 against $1 million for the script. The film will be produced by Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald (The Kite Runner, The Island).
Vaughan, a prolific comic book writer, recently signed to pen a big screen version of Marvel's Runaways.
