The film, based on a true story, focuses on John and Aileen Crowley, whose two children suffered from a fatal neuromuscular disorder. Ford will play a scientist who offers John hope of finding a life-saving treatment.
John Crowley was profiled by Pulitzer-winning journalist Geeta Anand in the Wall Street Journal. The article was later turned into a book titled The Cure.
Tom Vaughan (What Happens In Vegas) will direct the film, which is being fast-tracked by CBS Films president Amy Baer.
"This is a story that has universal, relatable themes - particularly the lengths parents would go to protect their kids," Baer said.
