Katherine Heigl is to star in a big screen adaptation of Carolyn Jessop's bestselling memoir Escape.
The Knocked Up actress will play the lead role in the story of the cult member whose testimony led to the conviction of polygamist leader Warren Jeffs, reports Variety.
Jessop was born into the Fundamentalist Church of Latter Day Saints and was forced to marry a 50-year-old man when she was 18. She later fled the group with her eight children.
Heigl is currently filming romantic comedy The Ugly Truth.
