The Wildstorm/DC Comics title Red will be turned into a feature film, The Hollywood Reporter says.
Summit Entertainment has picked up the rights to the property and hired brothers Erich and Jon Hoeber to write the script. Lorenzo di Bonaventura will produce the film.
Originating as a three-part comic series in 2003, Red centres on an ex-black-ops CIA agent who is brought out of retirement after an attempt on his life by a mystery assassin. Warren Ellis wrote the comic with Cully Hammer providing illustrations.
The Hoebers' previous writing credits include Montana and the upcoming Kate Beckinsale thriller Whiteout.
Di Bonaventura has produced Transformers, Stardust and Doom.
