Jodi Gordon has landed her first film role.

The former Home and Away actress, who left the Australian soap three months ago, has been cast alongside Stephen Curry, ex-Neighbours star Daniel MacPherson and Brendan Gleeson in The Cup.

The movie tells the story of jockey Damien Oliver, who rode horse Media Puzzle to win the 2002 Melbourne Cup, days after his brother and fellow jockey Jason died in a fall during a race.

Curry has been cast as Damien, MacPherson as Jason, while Gordon will play Damien's partner Trish.

Filming at Melbourne's Flemington Racecourse is scheduled to start tomorrow.
