The Transformers: Dark of the Moon star stated that the robot-based film could not be more dissimilar to the medical drama Grey's Anatomy, according to an interview with PopEater.
"It was certainly a departure to go from a Shonda Rhimes show to a Michael Bay movie," Dempsey said. "They couldn't be further from each other. It was very schizophrenic to go from one to the other."
Dempsey went on to confess that after spending seven years playing Dr Derek Shepherd on Grey's Anatomy he sometimes feels like a real doctor.
"I'm always getting asked for medical advice and I freely give it now, like I'm some pseudo-doctor, which gets me into trouble - I don't know what I'm talking about!" he said. "I'll just get sued for malpractice."
Dempsey recently admitted that he is unsure about his future on the ABC series, claiming that he is not certain he will return after the show's eighth season.
In May, the 45-year-old was involved in a car crash while practising for the Bosch Engineering 250.
