Speaking to E! Online's Marc Malkin, the dancer revealed that, while he has not auditioned for the movie, he has met with the makers.
"Footloose is definitely really close to me. I would love to be a part of something like that," he said.
The 23-year-old starred as Ren McCormack in a West End production of the musical back in 2005. His sister and Dancing co-star Julianne has also been linked to the movie remake.
"If the Footloose thing doesn't work out I'm still excited about whatever could come our way with the dancing, the singing and the acting," he insisted
"Like Hugh Jackman said at the Oscars, 'Musicals are back!'"
Other stars to be linked to the movie include Heroes actress Hayden Panettiere and Gossip Girl's Chace Crawford, who was reportedly interested in the role of Ren after Zac Efron dropped out of the project.
