Metallica's ninth studio album will be entitled Death Magnetic.
The metal veterans revealed the LP title on their official website after teasing fans with a list of letters within the name.
It is their first release since 2003's St. Anger. The band are expected to embark on a world tour in October.
Death Magnetic, which has been produced by Rick Rubin, is scheduled to hit shelves in September.
The band have hinted in interviews that the album may sound similar to their early material from the 1980s.
