Bjork dumps sole UK festival date

Bjork has pulled out of her headline slot at this weekend's Wild In The Country festival, MTV reports.

The Icelandic singer's only UK festival appearance was scheduled for the Knebworth Park event on July 5. However, she has now issued a statement citing staging problems as the reason for her withdrawal.

"Bjork is extremely disappointed that this show will now no longer go ahead," a spokesperson said. "Organisers... have been unable to secure any staging, sound and lighting for this festival, making it impossible for the headline artists to perform."

Organisers at the Stevenage event responded: "Contrary to what has been suggested, we have diligently provided all production requirements for all of the other acts appearing on this year's lineup."

Soulwax, Pendulum, Foals, Late of the Pier, Killa Kela and Battles have all been confirmed for the bash, which kicks off this Saturday and runs between 1pm and 6am.
