Speaking to The Sun, singer Jonsi Birgisson revealed that 'Gobbledigook', the first release from the Icelandic group's new album Meo Suo I Eyrum Vio Spilum Endalaust, was written after they watched the Eurovision event.
He said: "We were in a rented farmhouse, it was a long evening, we watched the whole contest. Afterwards our brains were so fried we had to write 'Gobbledigook'".
Birgisson also claimed that the new Sigur Ros record, completed in May and released last month, benefited from a quick turnaround.
"When you release an album the usual way, you have to wait sometimes more than a year before it is finally released," he said. "It's always going to be an anti-climax... With this being spontaneous and quick, it was much more exciting."
