Shadow Puppets favourite for Mercury

Alex Turner's Last Shadow Puppets have been installed as the bookmakers' favourites for this year's Nationwide Mercury Prize.

Turner, who won the award in 2006 with the Arctic Monkeys, is joint leader with Radiohead at 5/1.

Elbow, Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, and dubstep producer Burial are all on 6/1 with William Hill to win the prestigious gong.

Laura Marling, British Sea Power, Adele and Estelle are ranked at 8/1, with outsiders Neon Neon, Rachel Unthank & The Winterset and Portico Quartet trailing at 10/1.

The overall winner of the prize will be announced on September 9.
