clifff richard....... why can't he make an actually good record and why r all the fans going 'clifff should be #1 because he desevres to be' why did he fall from #3 after the first week? because the music out there is better than this load of tosh.

This is a dreadfully syruppy song, with a chorus that wreaks of Petula Clarke's 'Down Town' (Thaaaan-kyouuuuuuu). It's cheesier than a Frenchman's feet. There's also a brief allude to his first single 'Move It' - another woefully poor throwaway effort (although good enough to reach no. 2 in 1958). Just awful.

Average song- but i have downloaded it. Not even in Top 100 downloads on Itunes - I thought Cliff fans would have made special effort to get him to number one

Wish I'd found this discussion earlier. Cliff's single fantastic, he deserves to be number one. The song is not, arguably, in the same class as Devil Woman, We Don't Talk Anymore, or some of Cliff's other huge hits, but it is a great song for the moment, a wonderful way for Cliff to thank his fans for their support. People who think it is cheesy obviously think saying thank you is cheesy. I would just think it good manners. As for it being his one final moment of chart glory, who says? Cliff has a lot more to come yet, I don't doubt it.

It's a decent song that grows on you and speaks to Sir Cliff's own history. If anyone deserves what a #1 would represent, it's him. Hopefully, when the song comes out, it will a case of "Congratulations"!!!
Jeannette Hewer on September 13th, 2008
He is the best and should be number one

I bought it because I wanted to see him hit the number one spot. I've been a fan since he started, but this track doesn't quite hit the mark for me. It's a fairly typical Cliff record...reasonable but only slightly catchy but it could well be one of those annoying choruses that spins around one's head all day that you can't get rid of! Had it not been his bid for a number one in this decade, I would never had bought it (sorry guys) but I prefer the more lively stuff like Wired for Sound and early R&R, the true Cliff recordings, but time marches on and tastes change, but essentially, I cannot stand most modern day music and I think anyone in there 50's/60's will share the same opinion. Perhaps in this case as the majority of fans are not youngsters, he should have Rock and Rolled it up a bit, maybe with a hit of Quo! A sure fire Number one would come of it. This record may just make it but only just. I think a number two or 3 at best. Hope I'm wrong.

Jim Holley, NY, USA on September 12th, 2008
The song is much better than I thought it would be. Melodically I like it, lyrically, hey it's the truth. He is Sir Cliff, he can basically do what he wants. He has earned. I do prefer something like What Car, love the uptempo songs. But this one is right for the moment.

Geoff, Preston on September 8th, 2008
The song is catchy so who knows, some of Cliff's songs do have to grow on you. The main thing is Cliff being there for 50 years and the pleasure provided through all his music etc. etc. Does it really matter whether its good bad or indifferent, its our chance to show our appreciation of 50 excellent years. I've already bought it.

Joni Komulainen, Finland on September 3rd, 2008
Not a great song as such, but lyrics are suitable for the occasion and to be honest, the man who started European rock´n´roll in 1958 deserves his last number one. Saying that, hope it won´t be the last number one single. As far as I am concerned every song on "Something´s going on" album should have been number one. Give credit to a living legend! If you think him thanking his fans for 50 years in this way is naff, then when are you allowed to thank your fans?
Jelly, Suffolk on September 3rd, 2008
I think there is a respect for Cliff and all the musical work he has done, the song lets face it is not great, but he deserves this number 1!! Maybe finsh it off with a BRIT!

Once it's in your head you won't be able to get it out! very catch song, cheesy yes but i love cheese
Joan N, Wales on September 2nd, 2008
It is cheesy but also very catchy. Having been a fan for all those 50 years Cliff has produced far better than this. His voice is amazing live on stage. I hope he gets the No 1 he deserves, Go Sir!!
Stephen Battaglia, Hemel Hempstead on September 2nd, 2008
Ok, the song isn't the greatest that Cliff has ever recorded but it does get into your head and refuse to leave. Also, if you actually take some time out and listen to the words they are actually quite heart wrenching. I played the song to my wife and my mum and they both wept, not because the song is bad in any way but because it is full of meaning. As a lifelong Cliff fan, I sincerely hope that this gets to Number One, what better way would there be for us to say OUR thanks to Cliff?
Torsten, London on September 2nd, 2008
The song is a heartfelt celebration of his extraordinary achievement in being around for so long in such a fickle business. I don't begrudge him his success or, indeed, another chart-topper. Good luck to him - a lot of people obviously adore him!
Marion, Sittingbourne, Kent on September 1st, 2008
