We're as partial to 'Stars Are Blind' as the next guilty pleasure-seeker, and there were several decentish tracks on her album, but we'd presumed the whole 'Paris Hilton plays popstar' thing had safely run its course.

Well, evidently not because the world's leading heiress-turned-reality star has just launched a new single at us. It's called 'My BFF' and it's an utterly functional dance-pop track with a vocal so Auto-Tuned that it's hard to tell whether the sound you're listening to actually ever came from a human.

'My BFF' also serves as the theme tune to Paris Hilton's New Best Friend, her MTV-endorsed hunt for a substitute Nicole Richie, so you can probably guess how the lyrics go. "All of my life I've been waiting for someone to trust, someone who cares," she "vocalises" on the opening line, and what follows is just as tired and uninspiring.

Then again, maybe we're being a bit harsh on 'My BFF'. Truth be told, it's less a pop single than a tool to promote her latest reality show, and on that level it seems to have done its job.
