Dixon left "heartbroken" by label axe

Alesha Dixon has admitted that she was "heartbroken" after being axed by her record label in 2006.

The former Mis-Teeq singer was dropped by Polydor Records after her second solo single, 'Knockdown', failed to make the top 40.

"When I got dropped, I was heartbroken, distraught," she told DS. "It took me a long time to get the strength to go back in the studio."

However, Dixon bounced back by winning Strictly Come Dancing last year and has since signed a new deal with Atlantic Records. Her comeback single, 'The Boy Does Nothing', is released on November 3.

"This time I feel like I've put a protection around myself and I'm stronger," she said. "I'm trying to be more practical about it while still putting my heart into everything I do."
