Morrissey has revealed that he is planning to write an autobiography to protect his "legacy".

The former Smiths frontman said that he wanted the book to correct "silly" stories written about him by the media.

Speaking on Janice Long's Radio 2 show, the singer said: "So much crap is written about you, me, and it's quite hard to live with sometimes because it all gets burned down in history and becomes a part of your, whatever it is you are, the legacy."

He continued: "With every printed interview there's lots of mis-quotes and lots of them are really silly and really extreme and you have to live with them for the rest of your life.

"So, it's setting the record straight, and things like that."

Morrissey also claimed that his forthcoming Year Of Refusal album was sounding "fantastically strong". It is scheduled for release in February.
