Leona crowned Best Pop Female at WMAs

Leona Lewis was named the Best Pop Female at the World Music Awards, held in Monaco at the weekend.

The 23-year-old X Factor winner also won in the Best New Artist category at the 20th annual awards ceremony.

Ringo Starr collected the Diamond award on behalf of the Beatles for the group's contribution to music, while fellow British acts Coldplay and Amy Winehouse were presented with the gongs for Best Rock Act and Best Pop/Rock Female respectively.

Mariah Carey was presented with a Special Achievement award, while Beyoncé was recognised for her Outstanding Contribution To The Arts. The bash, hosted by Desperate Housewives star Jesse Metcalfe, saw US producer L.A. Reid presented with a Lifetime Achievement gong for his contribution to the industry.
