Albarn desperate to finish Gorillaz disc

Damon Albarn has revealed that he is "desperate" to put the finishing touches to the new album from his virtual rock band Gorillaz.

The former Blur singer is looking forward to other projects after spending three years working on Monkey: Journey To The West.

"It really has changed the way I write. I think I can almost just about do pop music but very briefly, in between lots of different stuff," he said.

"We're using different orchestras, one very interesting one from the East Midlands and one from Syria. I'm desperate to get back to it and finish it off."

Earlier this month, Albarn said that a Blur reunion was "very possible". The band last recorded together in 2003, a year after guitarist Graham Coxon left.
