Well, the first midweeks are in and there's a battle raging for the albums number one spot. At present, the first Dido CD in half a decade, Safe Trip Home, is ahead of the 'Deluxe Edition' of Leona Lewis's Spirit by fewer than 500 copies. It's looking very close, but the Hackney lass has an ace up her sleeve.

On Saturday she sang her version of Snow Patrol's 'Run' on The X Factor - a performance for which the term "spine-tingling" might have been invented. But if you'd wanted to download Leona's 'Run' after the performance, you wouldn't have been able to. At the moment it's only available on the reissued edition of Spirit, a tactic that seems to be paying off.

Meanwhile, things are just as tight at the top of the singles chart. Beyoncé is currently poised to dethrone the X Factor finalists with 'If I Were A Boy', but again there are fewer than 500 units between them. This means Simon Cowell could be celebrating a chart double come the end of the week - but equally he could be left sobbing into Sinitta's bosom. Let's see what sort of mood he's in on Saturday night, shall we?
