The three Tenors look likely to score a UK chart first by storming the album top 10 together.

Sales figures suggest new releases from Vittorio Grigolo and Just the Two of Us winner Russell Watson are heading for the top 10. Andrea Bocelli's Amore entered at four last week and could well hold out.

Gennaro Castaldo, of HMV, was surprised at the success of classical song. He explained: "The first time we really saw the phenomenon of classical music crossing over into the mainstream in this way was through the massive popularity of the Three Tenors in the early 1990s.

"Now the likes of Andrea, Vittorio and Russell are achieving a similar effect with a new and younger audience."

The Three Tenors, however, only ever appeared in the top 10 singing together. Watson's The Ultimate Collection and Grigolo's In The Hands Of Love joining Amore would put three tenors at the top individually.
