No Doubt have revealed that they are currently working on a new album, although they are taking things slowly.

Bassist Tony Kanal told MTV: "We're easing into it. We're taking it very slowly, kind of just going in and writing here and there."

Kanal is working on demos with guitarist Tom Dumont and drummer Adrian Young while frontwoman Gwen Stefani awaits the birth of her first child. Kanal revealed: "She's due pretty soon."

The band's new work is eagerly anticipated, as their last release of new material was in 2001 with Rock Steady. Since then Stefani has enjoyed a spectacular stint as a solo artist, although she always pledged to return to No Doubt.

It appears that fans will have to wait a while longer though. The bassist added: "I wouldn't even say this album is in its infancy. Its conception, if anything... It's so super-early on."
