A badly-sung recording of 'A Whole New World', purporting to be by Price, circulated among thousands of fans and was played Heart FM and BBC Radio 1.
Websites such as YouTube claimed the version was the original, unengineered, recording by Price with her husband Peter Andre.
According to the Mail on Sunday the song emerged from music industry executives in Australia before spreading to the web. There are now several versions on YouTube, where more than 12,000 people has listened to it.
One user commented on the site: "She sounds like a swan having its insides violently removed."
Price's spokeswoman insisted the song was not genuine, however, and said she is working to have it removed. She explained: "It's a spoof. There's no question.
"We don't know who recorded it but we sent legal letters to lots of websites and they have taken it down. Heart FM and Radio 1 played it and they apologised after we told them. We just hope that it helps make more people buy the single in the end."
