Nominees Muse
Muse and Lily Allen lead the list of nominations for this year's Brit Awards.
Experienced rockers Muse are up in the group, album and live categories while newcomer Lily Allen receives nods under the best female solo artist, best album and best single headings.
Fellow Britons Amy Winehouse, Corinne Bailey Rae, James Morrison and the Arctic Monkeys all took two nominations each.
Peter Jamieson, chairman of organiser BPI, said: “The strength of UK talent right now is highlighted by the number of debut albums represented in the nominations. Something very powerful and very exciting is happening right now in British music.”
This year's Brits will be the first broadcast live in nearly 20 years and the first time a winner has ever been picked live. A viewers' vote will be held during the ceremony as it is broadcast on ITV on February 14.
The 11 nominees for the British Single Award will be reduced to five final choices with weekly votes among listeners to the hit40uk and The A List chart shows on commercial radio stations each Sunday. Three singles will be knocked out each week ahead of the final public vote by text.
Russell Brand will host the ceremony while Fearne Cotton will provide backstage presenting for ITV.
