Mike Skinner has spoken out about the making of The Streets' next album.

Skinner revealed he approached the writing of the new record from a different direction to his usual, as he began to write the as-of-yet unnamed album.

"I decided to write all the lyrics before I started with the music, the complete opposite of normal," he wrote on the band's official website. "It's top though, cos now I've got all the words sorted it's just recording all the instruments (doing it all this time which is another first)."

On top of the writing techniques and the instrument recordings, Skinner added that the record would contain another personal first, leaving the intriguing comment: "The third first is that I've never written an album featuring conversations with both an alien and the devil."
