The White Stripes were on the receiving end of a tour-date hoax last week.

A long list of tour dates appeared on the internet last week, claiming the band were planning to embark on a huge global tour.

However, the group's management have rejected all the released details as fabrication, although they admit Jack and Meg will be at least travelling around the US to promote their upcoming record Icky Thump.

They today released a statement which read: "The White Stripes have yet to confirm their north American routing as of yet. But we are happy to say that it will include all 10 provinces and three territories of Canada, as well as the remaining 16 states of the United States the band have yet to play. A few major markets that have been journeyed to in the past, will be also be included."
