A small highland village with a population of just 350 is to host a festival in honour of John Lennon.

The John Lennon Northern Lights Festival will take place in Durness, Scotland this coming September.

It will include live music performances in addition to poetry readings and short film screenings.

The venue was chosen because Lennon spent much of his time in and around the village, and is thought to have taken his wife Yoko Ono there in 1969.

The festival has been fully endorsed by his family.

Tickets are on sale now.
