Kylie Minogue has become the first woman to win the prestigious Music Industry Trusts' Award.
The annual award recognises outstanding contributions to the music industry. Previous winners include Sir Elton John, Peter Gabriel and Bond composer John Barry.
The 39-year-old singer will collect her award at a ceremony in London on October 29.
During her 20-year pop career Minogue has released nine studio albums and scored 29 top ten hits. She won two Brit awards - for Best International Female and Best International Album - in 2002.
Music Industry Trusts chairman Dave Munns said: "Kylie deserves this award for her success over 20 years, staying at the top in one of the toughest professions and inspiring millions with her grace, dignity and humanity."
