Brighton-based indie band Electric Soft Parade are on a mission to release a song that sounds like summer, at least if new single 'Misunderstanding' is anything to go by. Taken from their most recent, and rather sweetly-titled album
No Need To Be Downhearted, brothers Alex and Tom White, along with Matthew Twaites and the talented Mathew Priest on drums, have made a very good release choice, for this is a punky, chirpy charming little number that may well become an underground summer hit.
'Misunderstanding' bounces along quite contentedly until you reach the denouement, leaving you with a sense of wellbeing and having been seduced by the group's light, easy vocals. The track never really breaks into anything too powerful - even when it hints at striking a more aggressive melodic pose as the chorus approaches, the promise is never fulfilled, thus sticking with the slightly soft-core indie focus that Electric Soft Parade so specialise in.
