James Blunt has promised that his new album will be "deeper" than 2004's Back To Bedlam.
The You're Beautiful singer will release All The Lost Souls, a collection of Seventies-inspired pop songs, in September. He has already stated that he does not expect it to match the phenomenal success of his debut album, which sold 11 million copies worldwide.
"I'm really excited to see the development from an album that was naive and honest and charming in its own way, to an album that is a bit deeper, a bit richer in its approach," Blunt told Billboard.
James wrote many of his new songs while on holiday in Ibiza last summer. He enjoyed his vacation so much that he decided to continue his stay throughout the much quieter winter season.
"I hadn't been alone for three years," he said. "I'd been sleeping on a tour bus with 12 people. So, it was a real moment to stop and have a look around, to realise what had gone on in my life and find a sense of calm."
