Winehouse cancels MTV Awards appearance

Amy Winehouse has cancelled her appearance at the MTV Music Awards, with her record company citing the singer's "well being" as the reason for her withdrawal.

The 'Rehab' singer was due to perform at the ceremony on September 9 and has been nominated for three awards at the event.

The singer was forced to pull out of playing the V Festival and a series of dates in Germany earlier in the month due to exhaustion.

Winehouse's tour of the States and Canada has now been pushed back until 2008. Her label, Universal Republic Records has said the decision was made "in a continued effort to support Amy Winehouse's well-being".

Earlier today, Winehouse's father told Radio 1 that the singer is "right as rain" on her Caribbean holiday with husband Blake Fielder-Civil.
