Oh dear. Have we so pillaged the reserve of oft-forgotten-yet-devilishly-catchy eighties pop hits that two artists – Gym Class Heroes and Lil' Chris respectively – are forced to cover the same song? Just two months after the emo-hoppers stormed the top five with a dubious reworking of Jermaine Stewart's anti-nookie anthem 'We Don’t Have To Take Our Clothes Off' – removing the "don't" from the chorus and replacing its chastity-promoting verses with a succession of crotch-tugging raps – we're lavished with the tiny new waver's version of the same tune.

Surprisingly, the Rock School survivor manages to trump his transatlantic rivals by turning 'Clothes Off' into a guitar-driven, "na na na"-fuelled pop stomper. Crucially, he embraces the song's huge chorus – far-fetched sentiment and all - with gusto and a cheeky wink, where Travis McCoy and Co. only seemed to sneer. That said, couldn't he have had a crack at Jane Wiedlin's 'Rush Hour' instead?
