Beyoncé pulls out of Malaysia gig

Beyoncé has pulled out of a gig in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, because of the country's strict dress codes.

The singer said a "scheduling conflict" was behind her decision to perform the concert in Indonesia, which has less stringent rules.

But she is rumoured to have cancelled the November 1 date as a result of the government's order that female artists cover up from the top of the chest to the knees.

Gwen Stefani recently agreed to ditch her more revealing outfits at a show in the country after campaigners said they were out of keeping with Islamic values.

Malaysian promoter Razlan Ahmad Razali said he was "frustrated" at Beyonce's decision, adding: "Although Indonesia is also a Muslim country, it doesn't have all these issues that we have. She can perform as she likes there."

The concert would have been the singer's first ever performance in Malaysia.
