Daughtry win big at American Music Awards

American Idol star Daughtry has scooped three gongs at the American Music Awards.

The 2006 reality TV show contestant's band beat Justin Timberlake to win the best pop or rock album, and also picked up the best breakthrough artist award and favourite adult comtemporary artist gong.

Another American Idol star, Carrie Underwood, took home two country music awards, including best album for her Some Hearts LP.

Other winners included Jennifer Lopez, Rihanna and High School Musical, which took home the best soundtrack title.
