I've just listened to the free-streaming of the album on the MTV website and it totally rocks! I think 'X' could actually be one of the finest albums of Kylie's career. It's packed with so many fantastic tunes and is far superior to Body Language. The DS review is far too based on personal expectations - it's best you judge for yourselves!

I have just downloaded this album from nokia and have to say that it is an amazing album. From start to finish it takes you on a journey and a personal one to kylie I know. The Freemasons-produced 'The One' has to be the next single...

Spot on review, DS. The album is so bland and derivative, it's a massive disappointment. Where is the lyrical depth of Impossible Princess, or the joyous exuberance of Light Years? When a train-wreck like Britney can produce an album as slick as Blackout, it's unforgivable that Kylies A&R team allowed this souless garbage to have ever seen the light of day. The aural equivalent, of watching her careers corpse, bobbing listlessly in Girls Aloud's distant wake.

It's a fantasic album, with slices of kooky r&b pop, three very personal songs and sometimes very cool dance pop. There are so many amazing tracks on here! There are also sultry numbers '2 Hearts and 'Sensitised', which is an amazing song! The rumoured next single is 'In My Arms' and 'Wow' will have you dancing around the room like an idiot. 'The One' is amazing - dance pop for clubs at it best! HAS to be a single surely?!. Tt does feel on a few tracks like 'Heart Beat Rock' and 'Nu-Di-Ty' that pop is being pushed forward in a new exciting direction again. This album is best described as the true follow-up or rather follow-on to Kylie's massive seven-million selling Fever album. I'ts cool pop/dance with an edge and a touch of r&b - so get this if you liked Fever!!! Overall a great album and return to form for Kylie. *****

I love Kylie immensely, have done for years. She's amazing and had given us some of the best pop songs of the last 20 years. But I agree with this review really - I can't hide the fact that this album has been a disappointment. I really expected the Britney, Blackout thing to be the opposite, and X to be the outstanding one. But Britney(!) who's never made a decent, acclaimed album (only singles) has come up with the current, fresh, new one with great songs. This album of Kylie's is so impersonal and just a bit dated really. So much of it is ripped off stuff from other artists, or songs she's got from other people that have their stamp all over it- but have still turned out not that good. It's a shame. But like is mentioned here, there are clear singles on this album, which will work & everyone will like, but the rest even I won't be listening to much. If she'd released Dannii's Neon Nights album now it would have been 10 times more groundbreaking & flawless sadly.

I have never been a great Kylie fan as I feel she is too manufactured, and needs to resort a highly sexualized image in order to sell music which could be best described as "fluff". Some of her earlier stuff was catchy and good to dance to, but this latest offering is a complete disappointment. It is over-produced, and the voice-altering techniques are used to the point where you can hardly tell it's her singing. Most of the lyrics centre around young girls sexualizing themselves, jumping on the dance floor and "getting the man". While we don't expect an album of cancer survivor songs, a few songs which reflect Kylie's maturity as a woman and relevant experiences wouldn't go astray. As her 40th birthday looms, one wonders how long she can keep up the pop princess image. Maybe with this album she should have started making the transition to serious artist. I think by not doing so, her next offering is going to be a huge challenge as she becomes a victim of the very stereotype she has been pushing for the last 20 years.

I bought the CD and it's fantastic. Did your reviewer actually listen to the CD?

I love Kylie yet this album doesn't live up to my favourite K albums 'Enjoy Yourself', 'Light Years' and 'Fever'. The first three tracks are superb with 'In My Arms' a standout. I found the next few tracks average at very best but the Erasure-inspired disco stomp of 'The One' is truly wonderful. 'No More Rain' follows and is a hearfelt song which recalls on Kylie's experiences over the past few years. The next great track is 'Wow!' but then follows the awful 'Nu-di-ty' which is without doubt Kylie's worst ever song. But the great songs on this are enough to make me listen to this CD again and again but with that nagging thought 'If only it lived up to Light Years'.

Kylie Minogue has over the years put her 'popstar' status behind us and has taken on the title of 'institution' and this is because of one thing...consistency. This nu-rave record gifted Kylie with a whole new look and its techno feel did not come across at all artificial, she packed it with catchy, loud and most importantly sing-alongable songs and the album reaches its pinnacale with the spellbinding 'cosmic' at the end and even if the arpeggios, clefs and any other fancy-pants mucical terms lack, Kylie is back and she is not going anywhere.

Digital Spy you really don't know what your talking about. Bashing the album just because you think your being "cool" it didn't work. This album is just fantastic, from the lead track 2 Hearts to the classics The One, In My Arms and Wow. To the mellow greats such as Stars. This album has a track for everyone. It's funny seeing such a wrong review such as the one you gave X and the review you gave Britney's 100% awful collection of "song" you really need to start listening to the albums before reviewing them.

It is interesting to return to this site after Kylie's foray into the US recently, which resulted in very disappointing sales despite all the hype and appearing on a number of TV shows. A 20 year history and loyal fanbase is going to ensure that her sales in the UK and Australia, and to a lesser extent, Europe, will be assured. However, in a market where she is relatively unknown, and has to rely on product alone, X did dismally. The choice of single was bland and her performances on TV mediocre. For someone who is able to put on a fantastic show, (I've been to one), it is difficult to understand how she and her publicity machine got it so wrong. I did buy X based on Kylie's previous offerings without properly listening to it, and must say with regret that it spends most of its time in my CD rack gathering dust.
