Jennifer Lopez: 'Hold It Don't Drop It'

She might not be the top ten mainstay of old, but, as she approaches her ninth year of pop stardom, J.Lo is enjoying a bit of a musical renaissance. 'Do It Well' and 'Hold It Don't Drop It', the first two singles from her Brave album, make up her best chart one-two since she followed 'Love Don't Cost A Thing' with 'Play' back in the halcyon days of 2001.

Rather brilliantly, 'Hold It Don't Drop It' samples the squelchy bassline from Tavares' 'It Only Takes A Minute' and builds a horn-fuelled, drop-your-handbags-girls-it's-time-to-dance disco stomper around it. Full marks to Mrs. Anthony too, who turns in one of the most lusty, persuasive vocals of her career. The overall effect is as bold, brash and sassy as the Latina diva herself.
