Blues artist Syl Johnson has claimed that all three musicians used his 1960s song 'Different Strokes' without permission or payment.
He alleged that Jackson used the track in 'Blood on the Dancefloor', Smith sampled it in 'Who Stole the DJ' and Shakur illegally used the tune in track 'Peep Game'. He also filed a lawsuit against rap group N.W.A and KRS-One for sampling the same song in their own music.
Johnson, real name Sylvester Thompson, has requested that he should be handed unspecified damages from the artists.
